Poppy Seed

A Modern Take on Pearl’s Poppy Seed Bread

I still vividly remember my great grandmother Pearl’s freezer filled to the brim with poppy seed bread that was carefully wrapped in tin foil. She’d pass these out as gifts for thank you presents, birthday, and at Christmas.

There’s an elaborate from-scratch version of her poppy seed bread that I’ll share one day. This version is a modern twist that requires a minimal amount of time and only four ingredients!

Every year, I like to treat my neighbors to a small token of appreciation. We live in a great neighborhood and while we aren’t close to many folks, I know any of them would be willing to help us with anything.

Ingredients

Solo Brand Poppy-Seed Pie Filling
Yellow Cake Mix
1/3 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs

Directions

This is where the recipe becomes super simple! Fix the yellow cake mix just as the box states, then add one can of poppy-seed pie filling. A good rule of thumb is one can of poppy-seed filling per cake mix.

I baked this batch specifically for my neighbors so I divided the mixture into smaller pans. You’ll want to bake the bread according to the directions on the back of the box.

Do you make gifts for your neighbors? I’d love to hear about them! I’m always looking for a new recipe idea.
