I’ve always loved celebrating July 4th, but this year’s celebration is going to be slightly different. We won’t be participating in our pool club’s annual party or heading out to fireworks. Instead, we’ll be enjoying our backyard blow-up pool and a small family cookout.
Small family celebrations seem to be the theme for 2020, our new normal is hopefully helping us develop stronger connections to our loved ones. I’ve slowly begun planning our July 4th menu, and of course, my favorite section to plan is the dessert bar.
Star-Spangled Strawberry Pie

Not only was this pie festive, but it was also delicious. This year, I’m hoping to can more strawberry pie filling and make this pie all year long.
All-American Apple Crisp

If there is a summer holiday BBQ, I’m most likely making either my Classic Apple Pie or this all American Apple Crisp. This recipe is especially great if you do not have pie crusts. Trust me, I’ve been caught without a pie crust a few times in this season of quarantine.
Americana Macarons

I’m still perfecting the perfect macaron technique, but I”m getting there. The year I made a flag from red and blue macarons was one for the history books.

This year, the dessert table is going to have a selection of small festive desserts and a few store-bought items. I can’t wait to share our festive display with you.
