Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day! I love all things related to a homemade biscuit and if you top that biscuit with gravy, well… that’s just perfection in my book! Richmond has some amazing brunch and breakfast spots. I continued my tour of the Richmond biscuit scene at Rise Biscuits and Donuts. Rise is an unassuming breakfast joint located just outside of Short Pump Town Center. Richmond is the only home to Rise Biscuit Donuts. The franchise-based restaurant with 16 locations on the east coast. The original restaurant is still operating in Durham, NC.
Rise offers a unique blend of traditional buttermilk biscuits to biscuits topped with trendy toppings like avocados and tomatoes. Yes, you can order your avocado toast on a biscuit!
Rise Biscuits and Donuts
Arriving at Rise, we found the service line was insane, and the seating was limited. The line moved swiftly, and the counter staff was incredibly friendly. Once we ordered our breakfast, we battled for seats in the tiny dining room and finally found a few together at the bar stools. The bar stool seats give guests a bird’s eye view of the biscuit baking show! Just like Krispie Kreme, Rise Biscuits & Donuts allows guests a glimpse behind the curtains as they prepare food.
I ultimately kept my order simple and opted for a country ham biscuit. I forgot, however, that I do not like salty ham! Yikes! Overall, the biscuit was divine, and I ate it on its own with just a touch of grape jelly. Everyone in our party raved about their biscuits, and I couldn’t resist picking up a blueberry biscuit to take home for later. It rivaled Bojangles Bo-Berry biscuit.
