When I was in college, a friend and I would frequent the Tobacco Company Restaurant at lunch… for salads. We felt special ordering water and caesar salads and loved the restaurant’s aesthetic. It always was and still is one of my favorite restaurants in Richmond. I was devastated when they closed in 2017 due to a fire and thought this Richmond landmark’s doors might have been closing forever.
Tobacco Company Restaurant
As soon as I heard they were re-opening this December, I knew I wanted to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary at the restaurant, and quickly made us a reservation. Our anniversary is on New Year’s Day, click here to take a peek at my favorite wedding day photo.
Our anniversary is on New Year’s Day, but this year we celebrated a few days early. I took the occasion to wear my favorite holiday dress for the third and final time. I am sad to pack this beauty up for the year.
I always start my meals at the Tobacco Company Restaurant, with a caesar salad. I consider it a homage to my younger days, and I still smile thinking of all those “fancy” college lunches. In a way, it’s my Tobacco Company tradition.
For my entree I ordered, the 8oz filet mignon that is served with whipped potatoes and a small salad of greens. It was terrific and cooked perfectly. I could not have been happier with my meal. I am not a huge fan of steak, but I always love the way it is served, and the cuts are always phenomenal at Tobacco Company Restaurant.
It will be awhile before I visit the restaurant again, but I’m already looking forward to it! What’s your favorite Richmond restaurant?

I’m so glad it reopened! It’s such a gorgeous space!
