I learned a lot from my first 10k experience in 2017, but mostly I learned what not to wear to a 10k race. This race, I was ready! I prepped my outfit weeks in advance.
What I Wore to the 10k Race
I started planning the outfit around my SheFit sports bra. The SheFit sports bra is fully adjustable. The unique design allows you to adjust fit and control your level of support to fit your needs. I’ve tried a lot of sports bras before this one, but I found this one to be perfection!
During my first race, I wore a no brand bra that provided me with little to no sport. A six-mile race requires a supportive bra.
I layered a brightly colored tank top over my Shefit sports bra. Over the tank top, I wore a black Betsey Johnson fitness shirt.
Due to weather reports, I added this Under Armour hooded shirt. The shirt was thin enough to keep me from getting hot, and the hood kept me dry from the rain.
I finished off the outfit with a pair of Calia by Carrie leggings with pockets. I LOVE the Calia brand; it’s my favorite athletic apparel brand. The pockets were large enough to carry my cellphone around the course comfortably.
I opted to wear my contact lenses on the race and wore my RayBan aviator sunglasses. My RayBan aviators were purchased on Poshmark last summer and they were a fantastic deal. I carried eye drops and lip gloss in my pockets as well. Taking eye drops and lip gloss allowed me to make sure that my eyes and lips stayed hydrated.
At the race expo, I made a last minute purchase of Feetures socks. The Feetures socks were worth every penny! They are compression, moisture wicking, and padded. They helped to keep my feet feeling great throughout the race.
The Shoes That Changed My Life
After the 2017 race, I was fitted at a local running store for new sneakers. The Brooks Ariels were suggested to me, and I’ve been in love with them ever since. My feet overpronate, and the Ariel’s make sure everything stays aligned. Also, how awesome is it that my sneakers are named after a Disney princess?!?!
What’s your favorite piece of fitness apparel?
